We were horrified to learn of the theft of about 30 swans from the lakes near North Benfleet Hall Farm. Apparently one which "escaped" was found with a crossbow arrow in it.
How cruel can people be........and why were they stolen?

Horrified!!! I'll say. What is the point is stealing or killing these beautiful birds?
If used as crossbow targets were any other found dead?

Dreadful news. According to today's Daily Mail on line, swans are being targeted for food, and are considered a delicacy in eastern europe. Click here to read the article. Be aware that there is a picture of a male swan before he was rescued and taken for surgery. Were the police/ RSPCA informed about the North Benfleet ones?

I was disgusted to hear about the swans. have also heard that someone has had a go at the fish in the lakes off the A130 (North Benfleet Hall I think).
