Bowers Gifford U3A is an informal social group which meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month 2pm to 4pm at the Benbow Club,
Pound Lane, Bowers Gifford, SS13 2HN.
It costs only £20 a year to join plus £1 to attend our monthly meeting (including refreshments).
26th March – Guest Speaker – Tim Sheppard, RNLI
23rd April – Guest Speaker – Pearly King from the Isle of Dogs
28th May – Guest Speaker – Jean Stafford J.P.
25th June – Guest Speaker – Jill-Allen King - Growing up in Bowers Gifford
Guests are also welcome to attend, at a cost of £2, for a maximum number of 3 visits. This then gives them the opportunity to make up their mind before joining. We are always delighted for visitors to attend.
In addition, we run a number of groups – normally only open to members but guests can attend once at the discretion of the host or group leader. Cost depends on the type of group e.g. for groups held in members homes we generally recommend 25p to cover the cost of tea and biscuits, the cost of other groups depend on admission prices per venue visited etc.
Current Groups which usually meet once per month – Stitch (Pound Lane); Scrabble (Great Leighs off Burnt Mills Road); Geography (London Road); Book Club (Felmores); Craft (Felmores and occasionally Bowers Gifford); Lunch Club – we meet once a month at a different local restaurants; Gourmet dining – we meet once a month at a different local restaurant; Walking Club – starting again in the spring (various locations); Local History – (various locations); Water Colour Art (Eversley Road); Quiz – various pubs/locations.
