Unfortunately I cannot sign the petitition to try to stop the LCH development as the wording makes that impossible.
The online petition includes "The residents of Bowers Gifford & North Benfleet, and nearby Pitsea (on the other side of the farm) believe that no building should take place at all on green belt"
This just is not the case. Many residents in the plotlands want the area tidied up and for limited infill development of what is an area that has a lot of properties and a lot of mess in between.
Unless the wording is changed to reflect the real fight against LCH (which I fully support) then I cannot sign.
In actual fact, nobody should be able to sign it as the statement I quote is not true and is therefore detrimental to the complete petition.
Cheers Mike

In addition, the downloadable form is also of limited value as it only says "PETITION TO STOP THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF GREEN BELT LAND IN BOWERS GIFFORD & NORTH BENFLEET"
It is not specific about which proposed development is bing opposed and as there are always planning requests going on, a lawyer working for the other side would easily dismiss this petition.

Point taken, Mike. This was raised with the Planning Office. We need to ensure the wording is correct when we send it in.
FYI - apparently the Planning Office do phone people on the petition to check that they know what they have signed.
Have you seen my post about building on the plotlands (last October)?

Hi Rose, the Petition still needs to be reworded as the way it is written at the moment makes it pointless as it states things that are not true.
People will then need to sign the new petition
I could not find your plotlands posts I'm afraid.

Hi Mike Not sure where you have been but the petition was completed and handed to Basildon Council in September prior to the Development Control and Traffic Management's decision to refuse the planning application. The paper petition had 5196 signatures and there was quite a lot of publicity. The petition and its wording was included in the Basildon Council report and no one else has challenged it. The electronic petition with 600+ signatures was also submitted.
The post re the plotlands was in October 2012 following Tony Ball's attendance at our meeting and the matter was raised again when Mr. Ball came to a meeting round about March of this year. It is a pity that you did not come to either of those meetings so that you could raise your questions at the time.
I am currently in Austria and won't be back for a week or so. I cannot access the posts made prior to June 2013. I am not sure why but I have left a message for the administrator. It may be that these were stored following the recent forum upgrade.
I suggest that whatever the problem you have with the petition is that you either message me direct using the forum. Go to the members section and click the message tab. You can also email me on chair@bowersgifford.info Alternatively, as we are not arranging any meetings until the new year that you come along to see us at the Benbow Table Top Sale & Coffee Morning on Saturday 9th November 10.00 to 2.00 pm when we will have a table with a laptop showing people how to use the forum - it is always best to speak face to face
Best wishes Rose
What element of the petition wording do you think is not true?
