We were all appalled that Nottingham representatives were not at the Towngate Theatre last night to hear what local people, the Basildon Planning Department and the Development Control & Traffic Management Committee had to say about their plans to build on our green belt. I don't think they needed to hear what the residents had to say -we told them at the "consultation" and also in our various responses to their flawed plans. However, the reporters thought that they saw a couple of the developer's staff sitting at the back of the theatre writing notes. Was it or wasn't it Nottingham in hiding?

Having just spoken to a member of Basildon Planning Office staff I was told that no one from Nottingham or Meridian had been recognised by Basildon staff. However, at least one other developer was recognised who might have been attending due to other interests in the area.......now where could that be?

Could it have been the land west of Stevenson's Farm? It was an agenda item that had been cancelled- but I would imagine that interested parties would've been informed.

I don't think that it was the Stevenson's Farm people because they would have been recognised. They would also have been notified in advance of the fact that the item had been taken off the agenda / or left early.
More likely developers associated with other intended projects in the area. We already know that there are 4 other sites in the Bowers Gifford/North Benfleet area in which developers have an interest.
The developers were probably there to listen to what the Development Control and Traffic Management Committee had to say in their summing up/future thinking. Also to listen to what local people had to say - pity Meridian and /or Nottingham didn't make the effort.
